The significant increase in life expectancy in recent decades and changes in the life dynamics of older adults have generated new social challenges, requiring a specific analysis of the role of community leisure in successful aging. This study examines the results of a qualitative research conducted in Porto, aiming to explore the multidimensional aspects of older adults’ community participation and its potential relationship with well-being from a socio-educational perspective. The methodology is based on a qualitative approach, employing semi-structured interviews with key informants (9 professionals and 27 participating older adults), complemented by a focus group composed of six professionals. The findings reveal a consensus among participants regarding the existence of a positive relationship between older adults' community participation and an improvement in their quality of life, reflected in increased levels of personal and social well-being. Additionally, the study highlights the importance of education in promoting awareness and health literacy, emphasizing the need to ensure the right to lifelong education and foster education for participation.
