In today's university environment, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) requires the creation of welcoming and stable spaces where people feel included, recognised and treated fairly.
To achieve this goal, research was carried out at the University of Murcia between 2023 and 2025. The main purpose was to analyze diversity management in the university community from a comprehensive perspective.
This article presents some of the results obtained in that study, which used a mixed methodological design that combined, on the one hand, an anonymous survey in which 2,448 people from across the university community participated, and, on the other hand, nine focus groups representing the diverse realities detected: ethnicity, gender, age, disability, high abilities, socioeconomic status, mental health, work-life balance, and caregiving responsibilities. The meetings, held in an informal and participatory environment, facilitated open and reflective dialogue. In turn, discourse analysis, carried out using ATLAS.ti software, identified significant advances in inclusion, as well as structural barriers that still exist. Although the existence and success of inclusive policies has been confirmed, challenges remain that hinder the full inclusion of students, highlighting the need to design, implement and evaluate new strategies that place diversity at the heart of university CSR.
