Analysis of scientific production in Scopus (2013-2023)

Abstract

The aim of this research is to identify and analyse the academic literature related to the Spanish industry and fiction in the last decade, convulsed by the emergence and consolidation of platforms in recent years (2013-2023) in the publications indexed in the Scopus database. A total of 231 manuscripts have been identified and grouped into different links in the value chain: articles relating to creation account for 11,68%. Those on distribution would be 36,79%, and those on production 19,04%, in consumption 30,30% and in film exhibition, 2,16%. A trend has been observed since 2013: the consolidation of the field of Distribution It is in 2016 when an increase in scientific production is perceived as a result of the arrival of Netflix in Spain in 2015, but it is ratified that the introduction of VOD in Spain has been slow. Scientific production increases from 2018 and especially from 2019 to the present (2023), where most of the manuscripts are concentrated, and from 2019, with 21 publications on Consumption, a line of research on reception and consumption of content is ratified.

Andoni Iturbe Tolosa, Universidad del País Vasco, UPV/EHU

Doctor en Comunicación social (UPV/EHU), licenciado en Periodismo (UPV/EHU) y graduado en Historia del arte (UNED). Es profesor agregado en el departamento de Comunicación audiovisual y Publicidad. Es vicedecano de Planificación estratégica e Infraestructuras y responsable del Aula Universidad-Empresa-Sociedad con ETB (Komunikazio gela). Ha participado en una treintena de congresos internacionales y ha publicado alrededor de 40 publicaciones. Es Investigador Principal del grupo emergente de UPV/EHU ADI, que gira en torno a la industria audiovisual, narrativas y género(s). Ha realizado estancias de investigación en la Universidad de Texas Austin, Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey, Leipzig y Lyon II.

Juan Carlos Miguel de Bustos, Universidad del País Vasco, UPV/EHU

Graduate in both Economics and Philosophy and PhD in Communication Sciences. He
has a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Grenoble. He has been a Professor at the University of the
Basque Country since 1987, lecturing on the economic aspects of cultural industries. He has been a Professor in the
Audio-visual Communication area since 2005. He has contributed to several projects related to regional public television
channels. He has participated in the University-Society-Business research project on transversal competencies within
the framework of digital transformation at ETB. He is currently working on the Internet economy (artificial intelligence
and creative industries). He has been editor of the communication magazine ZER. He is a member of the emerging UPV/
EHU group ADI, dealing with the audio-visual industry, narratives, and gender(s).

and Advertising at EHU/UPV. He was previously a scriptwriter at ETB for 12 years. He has participated in the University-
